Valentina Davino: Jewelry and Color Analysis on L’Orafo Italiano

L’Orafo Italiano, one of the most authoritative magazines in the world of Italian jewelry and goldsmithing, has featured us.

And it didn’t do so in a generic way, by talking about yet another collection or event, but by focusing on a part of our work that feels deeply ours: color analysis applied to jewelry.

For me, jewelry has never been just something beautiful to look at, but a way to enhance the person wearing it.

That’s exactly what color analysis is: a tool to understand which colors suit each individual best, based on skin, eyes, and hair. There is no universally “right” color, only the right color for each of us.

When I started designing my collections, I didn’t just want to create luminous jewelry, but pieces that could truly interact with the person wearing them. Not something that shines instead of the person, but together with them.

That’s why, reading the article, I felt a quiet yet deep joy: someone who observes the world of gold and gemstones every day fully understood what we are trying to do.

In this article, I want to share what this mention means to us, why color analysis has become central to our project, and what lies ahead in the coming months.

Why is an industry magazine different?

When recognition comes from an industry magazine, the perspective changes. Those who write deeply understand materials, techniques, processes, and market dynamics. They know what lies behind every choice.

That’s why being mentioned in L’Orafo Italiano is a mark of credibility: someone who truly understands this world has recognized the value of our work.

What stood out in the article?

In the article, the magazine highlighted the color research behind our collections:

“Starting from the study of color analysis, the brand has developed a well-defined identity. […] Each crystal shade is examined according to parameters such as intensity, temperature, and depth, building a structure consistent with seasonal color analysis and its subgroups.”

Reading these words made me reflect on the work behind every decision.

We spent months selecting samples, comparing them, testing them on different skin tones and lighting conditions, and gathering feedback from image consultants. A long process, but a necessary one.

Because the goal was clear: not simply to create something beautiful, but something that truly enhances the person wearing it. For that, we needed a method—and color analysis gave us one.

From theory to practice

Color analysis groups people into four seasons—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter—each with its own chromatic characteristics and subgroups.

Our work was to map Swarovski crystals into these categories, analyzing them by intensity, temperature, and depth.

We then matched each color to the season it harmonizes with best, creating a collection that is structured yet customizable.

Each customer can therefore choose not only the design, but also the shade that best suits their personal palette.

Materials and sustainability

Another aspect highlighted in the article concerns materials, such as the Re-created Caribbean Green crystal, made from recovered production waste.

This is an important detail because it reflects our approach: making conscious choices, using durable materials, and, when possible, giving new life to what would otherwise be discarded.

We are not perfect, but we strive to improve continuously. Knowing that this commitment has been noticed was especially meaningful to us.

What this means to us

After reading the article, I thought back on the entire journey: from the beginning in 2015, to the first samples, the initial challenges, the first customers who chose us, and the daily work of our team.

Being featured by L’Orafo Italiano is an important confirmation: it is worth pursuing your ideas with consistency and method. It’s not just a moment of satisfaction, but the recognition of a path built over time.

For us, color analysis is not a trend, but a way of interpreting beauty. We want to create jewelry that truly accompanies the person wearing it, enhancing their natural brightness.

This milestone is also a motivation to keep going: to improve, experiment, and grow—together with you.

Thank you to the editorial team of L’Orafo Italiano and to all of you who support us every day.

With love,
Valentina and the VD team
